He is a complete rework of a really old Rp character that I've been using for quite a while.

wyvern- a two-legged winged dragon having the hinder part of a serpent with a barbed tail.

dragon-a mythical monster generally represented as a huge, winged reptile with crested head and enormous claws and teeth, and often spouting fire. Archaic. a huge serpent or snake.

[Artsy]: uh you're gonna get me confused, i knew they were alike!

[The Blood Angel]: Yeah they are very very alike, but the biggest difference is the whole fire breathing bit.

[Artsy]: not all dragons breath fire tho

[Draymond]: Well you can look at it this way...the movie dragon in the fourth Harry Potter movie had two legs, and was winged. It also breathed fire. So by that definition, its a wyvern that breathes fire. *shrugs*

[Artsy]: well, yes, and dragons commonly do breath fire, but the records of chinese well dragons say that that type didn't breath fire, but it was still a dragon

[Draymond]: True, and Chinese dragons have been around in mythology longer than the popular western devlopments of the dragon. In fact, dragons started some 40 thousand years ago with aboriginal cave carvings depicting snakes or 'dragons'.

[Artsy]: precisely, so, a water serpent can be considered a dragon

[Draymond]: Problem...water dragons/serpents can't really...attack on land/in the air too well.

[Artsy]: this is true... however, it does cover the sea realm.. and if we again think of the chinese dragon, some didn't have legs, but could fly, perhaps Nen could do that as well? since we're stretching alot of other stuff in this wiki

[Draymond]: Well if he could fly, he'd be sushi within a few minutes. (no offense) But wait...sushi is raw fish...it would have to be charred ash. Perhaps a bad cook? XD

[Artsy]: why do you say that?

[Draymond]: Two territorial, large, extremely agressive, and agile evil orientated dragons makes me say that.

[Artsy]: Given the anatomical shape of Nen vs. either of your dragons makes me think he's more agile, and it's not like their fire is heat seeking. I mean, it's a stream, or mushroom, dodge-able

[Draymond]: Aren't we stretching the rules here though? *grins* Besides, since when was 7000 degrees dodgeable at near sound barrier speeds?

[Artsy]: ummm what rules exactly?

and it has to be! i mean, you can't make it that invicible, ok? you'd incinerate the castle and all its inhabitants, and if it wan't dodgeable, how did harry potter do it?

[Draymond]: Oops, I quoted you wrong; "since we're stretching alot of other stuff in this wiki" I meant something similar to that. 

[Draymond]: Oh...and the temperature of the flame is explainable, its the temperature at which hydrogen and oxygen burn at. Oxygen is readily available in the air, and hydrogen from food or specialized skin cells that use sunlight to make it. ^^ (Its of my own idea really, different than the gas torch Harry faced)

[Artsy]: Well I from what I read, there is another theory of a type of venom.. or some such that the dragon has. that when struck against the type of mineral/rocks they eat and added with air creates fire.

[Draymond]: I improved the flaming breath weapon, that's all. I did the math, of how many jules of energy is made when Hydrogen and Oxygen burn, in comparison to gasoline (I did this reasearching car engine fuels) Turns out the oxyhydrogen flame has 4 times the energy, and roughly an equal amount more heat. I took down the actual flame temp from some 8000 to 7000, as its dragons, and nothing is perfect.

[Artsy]: well ok, still... science really has no purpose in fantasy does it? if i want to have a natural bunny that has a horn growning out of its head, then i can, and there doesn't need to be an explaination, same goes for being a naga, it's accepted in fantasy, without facts

[Draymond]: Then either way I can say what I want about the characteristics of my dragon's fire.

[Artsy]: Yes, you can, but within a story it has to follow the rules of the story which says no god modding and I think a flame that is impossible to avoid or withstand, even by another dragon falls in that category

[Artsy]: Again. Castle. Incineration.

[Draymond]: Well, not avoid...impossible to withstand, only after a few precious moments. Also, its not really god moding as it is a brilliant idea, however I do read your concerns on the issue. I don't plan on having my dragon's incinerate castles for 'fun'. Going back to the avoidence of such a weapon, I mentioned earlier "near sound barrier speeds" I wasn't meaning to describe the speed of the jet of flame, as the maximum speed a dragon might obtain. However, the speed of the dragon does influence the speed of the flame.  Its like you throwing a ball forwards in a moving car. It has its original speed, then you add more energy to make it move faster than the car. Its all in application.

[Artsy]: This is true. Look, all I'm really asking is that all dragons be held to the same standards. Unable to destroy each other. That's all I really ask.

[Artsy]: Also, if an object is moving foreward and a flame is shot foreward from it, there is also the possiblity, if the object is moving fast enough, that the flame would come back on it.

[Artsy]: Another theory about fire, by the way, states that a dragon holds only so much hydrogen in a second set of lungs. This helps it stay air born. If too much of the hydrogen is used on flame, the dragon can no longer fly and must fight on the ground until the lungs are refilled.

[Draymond]: Hmm...I never thought hydrogen balasts helped in dragon flight, as those dragons who use venom for their flames wouldn't have this advantage. Anyways, the hydrogen wouldn't be stored in a set of lungs, instead it would be their bloodstreams (as it origninates from their scales and hides in my theory, then circulates to the back of the mouth to be ignited)

[Artsy]: But then, in excessive use, the dragon could cause itself to suffocate.

[Draymond]: Explain what you just said a little more.

[Artsy]: Well.. if the dragon uses the hydrogen from its body, then there must be a rate that it needs the gas, just like a human needs so much oxygen is such amount of time to keep the body running. So, if the dragon uses this gas to create flame, as we might... blow a bubble, then after a while, they would be forced to.. 'take a breather' or else risk suffocation and passing out.. correct?

[Draymond]: Right, its not like the dragon is going to be blowing a jet of flame for a half a minute anyways however. Stemming on 'taking a breather' I looked into how bird respiratory systems work. In birds, they breathe in one direction to keep air flowing through the lungs in one direction constantly. Say, in through the nose, out the mouth. They can do this because of air sacs around the lungs and trachea. Now apply this to dragons, or have dragons have four lungs, then they'd be able to breath in a continuous loop.

[Artsy]: Hmm.. interesting... But now we're back on flight. How would your dragon fly? It's wingspan is not nearly long enough for what it should be made of. Either it can be as brittle as a bird's legs or.. some other way I don't know of.

[Draymond]: Again, to quote yourself, "science really has no purpose in fantasy does it?" 

Right...so onto draconian flight limiations vs size and mass. FUN! Basically, the wings have to move the same mass of air or greater than the dragon's own mass to obtain lift. Thermals work great with gliding, take offs might be awkward however.

[Artsy]: Which would mean that the wing span would have to be like.. 2 city blocks or you'd have a very brittle dragon. SO! if you are gonna quote me and I'm gonna say it myself, you should not justify your god-esk powers with science, no matter how sensible it is in the end. Unless all individuals of a type of creature of the same abilities or are held to equal standards, something should be done to even the playing field, do you agree?

[Draymond]: Indeed...to even the playing field? Hmm...more imaginative competition.

[Artsy]: Aww... imagination. Thy is my arsenal in a battle of stories.

Tell you what. I will not ask you to.. dimish or change your dragons in anyway if we say that Nen can withstand their fire. Sounds fair to me. I mean, if we have to have reason, he's been to the deepest depths of any ocean or sea, his scales have to be able to withstand the pressure.

[Draymond]: Interesting that you describe your creation as a collection of battles.

Before I agree, if he is a creature of the deep, he would be able to withstand great pressures inherant to the nature of the deep ocean enviroments. However, just because his structre can support hundreds of tons of water pressing down on him, doesen't techincally mean he's immune to extremes in temperature, as he's also probably used to a very cold enviroment. (unless he spends most of his time basking by geothermal vents) The sort of heat subjected by flaming dragon breath is not an extreme form of pressure, just a really hot wind. 

[Artsy]: Well, yes, since he has been to the depths, he'd have to be able to withstand even the steam that comes from something such as the giant rift at the bottom of the atlantic ocean. So yes, I suppose he would be capable of withstanding the 'really hot wind'... in theory of course...

[Draymond]: *grins* Very well...however, if his scales and skeleton can support the pressures down there, how can he be attacked with physical force? Not too easily if the sea cannot vanquish him.

[Artsy]: yes, but come on. That still leaves mental assaults and poison at the least. He's not resistant to magic you know. Physical attacks are really the only thing that can't kill him. ^^'' oops

[Chaotix Palidien]:  a dragons fire is caused from two glands in the mouth that spurt together and cause napalm ( look up the sciance research facility and look at a dragon carcass it holds to chemicals in each side of its mouth in one of the glands theres a  base and then a solution when mixed causes fire =/ and its the same way for D@D mythology and science proves that :P so waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanh sorry that was funny XD

[Draymond]: XD A problem? No...just diversity of the species. ^^ Some have advantages over others...such as which system they use to procure their flames. Then natural selection comes in, roots out the cooler dragons, and the hot and deadly ones win out. 

[Artsy]: That depends on what the adaptations of the cooler dragons are. Possibly why non fire breathing dragons were found near water and such like China, and fire breathing ones were found in mountains... Anyway, like we decided, science has no place in fantasy, and there fore, we can say what we wish as long as it isn't a huge advantage over another variation of the same species. Fair enough?

[Draymond]: *shrugs* Well you can interpret fantasy as a hypothesis...science proves or disproves hypothesis. There's a connection. 

[Artsy]: Well that's true, but although I can wrap my mind around the actuality of alchemy, I think 'magic' is so different. I mean.. conjuring and such? It's just impossible. So I guess, to an extent, fantasy could be considered a grouping of theories, but I think it's also a grouping of dreams that were made without thought to physics. So.. we can only put bounds on so much.

[Draymond]: True, applying science and fantasy only goes so far. Magic escapes science, as it only exists as a concept. Also, theories are conclusions drawn after reviewing a huge amount of evidence to back up the theory(ies). Its a word that's misconstrued a lot in that sense.

[Artsy]: Well, microbiology and cellularbiology do have a basis for alchemy.. which is considered a type of magic, isn't it? So.. alchemy=theory, conjuring=concept?

[Draymond]: Actually, alchemy is a philosophy. Do explain how microscopic organisms and cells come into play for a basis in alchemy. I thought alchemy was the idea of changing any mental into a precious one.

[Artsy]: No, it's making something from something else, or being able to repair it. Basically, alchemy says that if you have all the necessary parts for something within another object, you can take the other object, and make it into the other thing that has the same pieces.. yeah ^^'''

[Draymond]: That's the idea of it...but has it ever worked? No. Therefore its a hypothesis that could never be found conclusive.

[Artsy]: But there is evidence that it could work. We just haven't developed the technology yet to try it... correctly, that is.

[Draymond]: It would be nice to take X amount of electrons, protons, nuetrons and combine them to make X amount of a new substance. But no such phenonmenon occurs in the universe, the only relating being fusion inside stars. But that's predictable, and technology could never reach the pressure needed.

[Artsy]: And I'm sure back in ancient roman days they said it would be impossible for us to ever have moving pictures on a box, and yet, here we are. It can be done, in theory, it just hasn't been done.

[Draymond]: Again, a theory is a conclusion drawn from evidence of many facts. So its an idea...hypothesis that's never made it past the experiment stage.

[Artsy]: But it is a theory, just like plate tectonics (sp?). There is evidence that it can happen, there just hasn't been an experiment to prove it yet.

[Draymond]: Evidence are facts...such as a fingerprint, DNA lifted from blood spatter at a crime scene. Plate tectonics are like a constant experiment, as we're able to observe the results from their movements. What facts are there that alchemy is possible?
